Believe me, I don't want anyone to think I'm being a troll. And I totally agree that it's bogus to down vote someone simply because you disagree with their ideas and theories.

I had my Maul rant, and after the fact I was a little concerned that I perhaps came on too strong. But if anything it just shows how passionate I am about SW. I read every post (well mostly) in these threads and I appreciate every one of them, whether I agree or not. I'm not opposed to anything if it helps give us the best film possible.

 

Driver is not going to go from an X-Wing pilot in uniform to mostly cyborg in the course of one movie. The Grave robber is most likely Andy Serkis' character. He's probably an ancient Dark sider whose malevolent spirit possesses that body. It can probably do this because of the extensive cybernetics. I'll even go as far to say that it may be a zombie cyborg like the things seen in the movie Virus (1999). I could see that body getting destroyed by the end of the movie and the spirit entering and taking over Driver.

 

Obviously this is not the way it went down on screen, but wasn't there an old tale before ROTS came out of how Vader accumulated his armor by way of taking it from other individuals along the way? Almost as if he were an artifact collector of sorts.

I wonder if that is somewhat the genesis of Kylo Ren's character as a collector that uses and wears these pieces he accumulates...

 

maybe Ren and Rey are something like Princ or princess? idk.. some titles ?

Ok, I have developed a new theory that I don't think has been mentioned yet, and hear me out before you bash me because its a little bit of a stretch. What if Kylo Ren is not played by Adam Driver or GC, but Pip Anderson!!!

Here is my reasnoing:

1. It doesn't nessisarily make sense to me to have Driver play him since he would presumably wear the mask for most if not all of the movie. It would make more sense to utilize an actor with special physical skills (ie Pip's parkour), the same way Ray Park was used for Darth Maul, that you are not as concerned about covering up. It would only make sense for it to be Driver if either he is leading a double life or Kylo is actually his twin. Remember, Chewbacca and Darth Vader were not played by accomplished actors in their physical form.

2. We have seen the pictures of Driver in X-wing gear. It would be very difficult for him to both be around Imperials and fight against them at the same time. It worked for Palpatine because his base of operations was esentially the same, but Driver would have to travel quite a bit. This kind of leads me to my third point.

3. What if Andy Serkis is the big bad, Kylo (Pip) is the apprentice, and Driver is the Solo child/ wannabe that turns by the end of TFA. One of the things that lead me down this rabbit trail is the leaked concept art, particularly the scene in the forest seeming to depict Rey, Driver, and an unspecified dark jedi/sith that looks like vader without his mask. Now, looking back at the recently released concept art for Kylo's helmet, and the suggestion that the face mask is removable, what if the forest concept actually shows Kylo without his mask and not just a separate character design??!! That would then give a different meaning to Driver's appearance in the picture.

4. Some will likely bring up the height and build of Driver being more simular to Kylo. My contention is, with the right costume you can make Pip look 3 1/2 inches taller and have broader shoulders.

Now, this brings up another possibility, one which I actually had in a basic outline for the ST back around the time of AOTC: twins. Driver could be playing solo twins, one good and one evil.

 

That was one thing I wish they explained in the prequels is where Vader's suit actually comes from. I always thought Palpatine would be a Sith artifact collector, and the Vader suit would be Sith armor.

It will be nice if they use something simular in TFA instead.

 

Rated it original because it is, I disagree though

1. I've been supporting double life Driver since before Kylo Ren name reveal. But my double life is that of a rich Imperial aristocrat and a Sith Lord on the side, (huh who does that kind of sound like?)

2. While I can easily see why people think that picture looks like Driver I don't want to confirm anything yet especially something that conflicts with a lot of other rumors. I posted a theory back during the concept art leak of Driver disguising himself as a rebel pilot as they get ready to fight the Imperials at the "pirate base" set. I'd imagine it would be pretty easy for him to slip in during the chaos. Why would he do this? Because it helps him get close to Finn and Rey.

3. Which concept art are you talking about? The one you're reminding me of with your description doesn't really show any faces and I interpreted it as Rey, Kylo Renn, and Finn or Poe. With Rey fighting Kylo and Finn or Poe incapacitated.

4. Not even the build, Pip doesn't walk like Kylo did. Pip walks with grace and compsure because of his Parkour background. Kylo seemed to almost rumble similar to how Driver does. GC even walks more like Kylo Ren than Pip would. Also the slenderness and lankiness of the figure suggests Driver or Gleeson whereas Pip is more squatter and stockier in his build in my opinion.

My first post, I was lurking on another forum, blue gartr and someone posted these images and said they were on another forum(didnt say where). What if, Rey is not a Solo, but a Skywalker? As in Luke's daughter?!



Anyways, thought I would post it, thanks and have a happy new year!

 

1. If anything, that sounds like a back story and not a double life per se. It doesn't seem logical we would get a significant view of imperial life, so a double life would have little significance to the viewer in regard to the story being told. But its still possible.

2. That's a fair point, he could be pretending to be a X-Wing pilot, but you would have to explain how he got the gear, without no one noticing, and it would be evident when all of the X-Wings are in use and he's still there, or there is a incapacitated pilot with out an X-wing.

3. There is one from the leak with a character who is likely Rey holding a light saber, and a dark jedi with a red lightsaber on a cliff on the snowy foresty planet, and a character who looks like Driver cowering near the dark character (Ren). The look of the dark Jedi reflects the look of Kylo Ren, but without his face mask as is rumored being removable.

4. I think you get too stuck on who appears like this and who looks like what. These are actors. Things like a person's walk can be easily manipulated, and with a little movie magic you can change a person's stature or physical appearce completely (think hobbits). That's like saying Anthony Daniels doesn't walk like an android so he couldn't possibly play one

I look at it as a Revan style storyline.

Wasnt happy with the non existent help from the jedis in the mandalorian wars

Went to fight as a rogue in the movement called the revanchist and in the process of this wore the mask of a fallen mandalorian warrior

Then with the aid of malgus proceeded to follow the path to the dark side of the force.

I understand that its legends material now, but could it be likely that kylo is good and due to events in TFA he discovers the path of the dark side?

 

He doesn't have to explain how he got the gear. *Waves hand*

 

1. I think JJ will make an attempt to humanize the empire as evidenced by Finn. Seeing aspects of Imperial life (maybe it isn't so bad) could be part of that too

2. How did Luke get gear that fit him perfectly in ANH? Why did they have a spare X-Wing and spot open in Red Squadron? How did Luke learn how to pilot an X-Wing so quickly? Shoot one of the original drafts went all Battlefield Earth and had untrained Wookies (originally supposed to be tribal like Ewoks) in X-Wings acing Imperial Pilots. We don't love Star Wars for its painstaking focus on realistic storytelling haha

3. I think I know what piece you mean. That's pre-casting and from the Arndt draft. The design of the villain has changed since then (fun thought- is it a Kylo Ren concept or an Uber concept?). The character in the foreground is probably Arndt-era Finn- the guy who ignites the blue lightsaber in the concept art with BB-8 (Arndt's BB-7?), Arndt-Rey, and Arndt-mysterious little alien who may or may not be Lupita.

4. I just think you cast certain actors for certain reasons. Pip doesn't have the acting chops to be given such a huge role, whereas Driver is an up and coming young star. Yes I am aware Ridley is just as unknown as Pip but she is our new Mark Hamill, a virtual unknown who impressed the producers. Another knock on Pip is a similar argument used against the GC is Kylo Ren contingent, he was cast after everyone else. You don't cast the main villain after production has started.

 

Here is how the cards stack up. If anyone sees a discernible pattern then let's hear it!

#81 of the old series is a Death Star Gun/canon if you can't make that out.

 

Nice theory. However I would counter this with the possibility that rey is not a skywalker but that the card similarity might actually point to rey playing a "skywalker" role in the new trilogy. I've heard conflicting rumours but i think rey might be our main hero for this new generation.
