THREAD FOR THOSE WHO HATED THE MOVIE

It's a pity we have to ignore some of people here. It never happened Pre TLJ.

 

This thread has really veered off course though. I don't think there's any requirement to justify its existence, it just needs some course correcting.

 

This is a thread to discuss the movie. Not the trolls on twitter or
other social media.

So @Maximus the problem, in the last days, to me, is just that if people come here
not to share their opinions or to read other opinions but to blame trolls
that have nothing to do with this debate, those who where here to discuss
the movie, feel the need to defende themselves because they have nothing to do with trolls or toxic people harassing actors etc...

If you want to discuss toxic people use another place.
I’ll joying that conversation.
Because it’s a worth conversation.
Point is, that’s not the place unless - sorry - one is a troll as well.

 

There is no reason to create another thread based on a technicality. It's people who hate the movie...

 

I heartily disagree. Just because we dislike TLJ does not make us trolls (or those despicable people who insult, harass and threaten actors) . If that's really your opinion than your being here is inflammatory and the mods should you escorted out. You (or anyone) coming into this thread and implying that we're those people is not conductive to meaningful conversation, nor is it friendly or respectful in any way.

 

If that how it sounded I apologize. However, Thread for the Trolls just doesn't make any sense either... I feel it's better to have general thread then calling out specific groups.

 

It is. Because the point of this thread it’s not discuss toxic fandom.

You won’t find here those people.
Because this is not a place where someone is putting together a conspiracy.
An organized attack to actors, LF and whatever on social media.
I’m sorry to say it: but if you see a direct connection between
not liking a movie, and being an hasshole, you have a problem.

And you’re not that different than those you blame.
You’re just the other side of the coin.

This is a place to discuss a movie.
For those who hate/dislike it.
And for those who like/love it as well if they want to.
Many did. And I thank them.
They improved our debate.
And that’s the best part of a being part of a community.

To respect each other when we don’t agree.
To do that when we all share the same point of view...
It’s not respect. It’s a given.

 

Refer to my post: 3746. Calling out specific groups on what they like or don't and then telling them to get out, because it's a safe space, isn't the best way to run a forum. Do you seriously want to have a thread dedicated to trolls? Or have a thread dedicated to Rey being a Mary Sue? Or insert X reason here.

Then do it. In a proper thread. Not out of the forum.
I’ll always defende people right to discuss whatever they want, as long as they are respectful.
That means also, to call your last contributions to this thread... out of topic.

 

So there are guys who are on this site since 3 months and are coming to insult people who make this place live for 3 or 4 years in total friendship ?

Why has this thread gone off topic? It's now about the abuse Kelly Marie Tran is allegedly receiving, and not about the film.

Clearly the abuse is from a tiny majority of nutjobs (probably 10-20 people) who took their dislike for the film way too far. But let's just let her and Disney handle this. I hope (again, if there are LEGITIMATE threats and harassment) that they are brought to justice.

But from what i'm seeing, this whole thing has been tied in so directly with the film itself.. that it's become just another one of Disney's scapegoats to make TLJ haters look like misogynists.

Many of us think that it's a terrible movie, that failed to respect the source material or match the quality of previous films.

Get it Lucasfilm? Get it Disney? Just accept it. Still you're twisting this story and that story - to make those who didn't enjoy the film look like sexists, racists, losers, nazis.. it's pathetic.

They have so much control over the media, and this is what they're doing now. It's got to the point where we can't even talk about our dislike for the film, without the subjects of sex and race being brought up. Clearly this is the narrative they want.

George Lucas never stooped this low, despite of the clear depression he went through as a result of fan backlash. He still retained his capacity to be a reasonable human being and accept others' opinions.

The employees/heads of Lucasfilm today are showing that they can't do that.

To be honest, i'm completely done with Star Wars until they clear house and hire some new people.. the entire franchise will spiral downward all the time this is going on.

I have a question for you.
Do you agree or not, that Rey is more a comic book kind of super-heroine
than a monomyth kind of female hero?
I know that the script itself of TLJ - and of TFA too - are not immune to the hero
journey,
So are many of the movies made nowadays if we look at the structure, or
to say it better at the sequence of events.
The super-hero movies too...

But if I think about not just her power, but her journey from that point of view...
I see Captain Star Wars. Not an heroine whose quest has to doo with the Force,
the Jedi, the Galaxy...
Her journey it’s only personal. It’s not them both.
Until now...

I’m just starting to think about it.

I had a discussion with FNxxxx about that and he was telling me that indeed she was a Force SuperHero then I said meh ... OK.

That is my answer.

Her journey isn't an iniatic one, she's a Force Ex Machina.

 

She didn't have to be though. I can't blame this solely on TLJ, but given a chance to remedy what was problematic about her skill sets in TFA, they just doubled down on the bad and I think what we've settled on now is an out-of-universe explanation of Force Download. *Pause* There was a time when I thought nothing could be worse than the Midichlorians... and then Force Download said "hold my beer".

Gotta chime in... How is that an insult? @Bandini is talking about bad moments in the film (and hell, there are a lot of 'em). What are you talking about?

 

Him saying that I'm being "insulting" to him, yet its okay for him throw shade? That is in no way contributing to the thread.

When Rey calls Luke - Master Skywalker, does anyone expect her to repeat the line of that little kid in RotS? I find the delivery and acting to be a little off.
